Melt your butter in a skillet. PW used a dutch oven.. I can't afford one of those so trusty skillet stepped in. Saute the veggies till they are translucent. Add the chicken and stir to combine all the ingredients.. Then add your flour by sprinkling evenly over the vegetables and chicken. Cook again for a couple minutes on low heat.
Next step is to pour in the chicken broth, stirring continuously. Then stir in bouillon cube and white wine.. The flour creates a wonderful gravy.
Pour in your cream and stir. Allow this mixture o cook on low heat for about 4 minutes until it starts to thicken. Season with thyme, salt and pepper.
Remove from heat. Taste and add more seasoning if needed.
Then pouryour mixture into a pie/casserole dish.
Roll out your crust and then layer it on top of your mixture.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until your crust is golden.
That's it.. One awesome, wholesome meal for the whole family to enjoy.
Thanks PW. I loved this meal!

PoP OvErS.

Whenever I think of Pop Overs I think of my friends Neil and Tracy and the little cafe they used to take us to whenever we visited them in NYC. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, beat together the oil, eggs, sugar and anise flavoring until well blended. Combine the flour and baking powder, stir into the egg mixture to form a heavy dough. Divide dough into 2 pieces. Form each piece into a roll as long as your cookie sheet. Place roll onto the prepared cookie sheet, and press down to 1/2-inch thickness.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the baking sheet to cool on a wire rack. When the cookies are cool enough to handle, slice each 1 crosswise into 1/2-inch slices. Place the slices cut side up back onto the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 6 to 10 minutes on each side. Cookie slices should be lightly toasted.

I copy and pasted this recipe off the Food Network site. The reviews say it's easy and delish. Since this is my first attempt I wanted to try something simple and authentically Italian.
Try this with me and let me know how it turned out.
Tanya

Lemon Cornmeal Cake with Lemon Glaze and Blueberry Crush Sauce.

I was asked by my friend Stefanie to make this cake.
It turned out so dreamy.
Smells heavenly, and it's a cake I would probably make for a summer or early fall get together.
You have to try it out!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/SeyVwyPUMKI/AAAAAAAAAcY/hjAqgAKazDI/s400/IMG_3818.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326797124624724130" />
Make your glaze first and set aside.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/SeyVckwdksI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/giQ35cQNT-k/s400/IMG_3784.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326796777408271042" />
Mix your dry ingredients with a whisk.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/SeyVPO7-0cI/AAAAAAAAAcI/HsRDJ_lgH3g/s400/IMG_3787.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326796548212707778" />
Whisk your vanilla, buttermilk and lemon zest. So I decided .."Hey.. If a kid can do this surely I can too.
I've never made any kind of dough.... ever... so I was kind of nervous when it started asking for live yeast etc. But I dove in and the outcome was great.
Give this recipe a try...It is so worth it!!
Ingredients are at the bottom of this segment.
Kudos to Martha and her staff for making this so easy to do.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5tFhgPqCI/AAAAAAAAAWA/piOHaeVuKXM/s400/IMG_3640.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318308151631521826" />
Get your dry ingredients together.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5s4_SXTyI/AAAAAAAAAV4/5wNcOaFcrp0/s400/IMG_3641.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318307936288067362" />
Wait for your active yeast to start bubbling before you add it your dry mixture.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5sm0PR6-I/AAAAAAAAAVw/oAA4V7Y-nQg/s400/IMG_3645.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318307624084696034" />
Add your active yeast mixture to your dry ingredients and then get stuck in there using your hands to mix all the dough in to a big ball.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5sOJKEAqI/AAAAAAAAAVo/Big2IhpS-mE/s400/IMG_3647.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318307200203227810" />
Knead your dough on a floured surface.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5sDCZlIGI/AAAAAAAAAVg/tDeG2c97sto/s400/IMG_3648.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318307009410703458" />
This is how your dough should look like once you've kneaded it.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sc5r2gYP3qI/AAAAAAAAAVY/bMOO6PH1waY/s400/IMG_3650.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318306794119880354" />

Rub some olive oil around a clean bowl and after kneading your dough place it in the bowl then using your fist make a dent in the middle of the dough to let the air out of it. Stir with a fork. Set aside..{in a few minutes, mixture will bubble}.
In a large bowl mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix all the dough together. Have extra flour near by and add in bit by bit if the dough is too wet or too soft.
Then knead the dough on a floured surface.
Rub a clean bowl with olive oil. Place dough in bowl and punch a dent in the middle to let the air out. Add tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thick, 20 to 30 minutes. Let sauce cool completely before using. { I sieved my sauce also to get all the seeds out..I have fussy eaters who don't like bits}.

Coconut Macaroons.

Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/ScfmJ6QiYRI/AAAAAAAAAUA/G7MMx95nUkk/s400/IMG_3597.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316470943065989394" />
This was such an easy recipe to do and I found it here. It is from a Holiday book but I think cookies like this can be enjoyed all year round.

Ingredients:
2 2/3c. flake coconut, firmly packed
2/3c. sugar
1/4c.unbleached flour
4 egg whites,unbeaten
1c. sliced almonds
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract

8 oz. semi sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

Method:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine coconut, sugar & flour. Stir in egg whites, almonds, vanilla & almond extract. Form balls from rounded tablespoonfulls & place 2" apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 mins. until golden.
Remove from pans while hot & allow to cool.
Chocolate Edge:
Melt chocolate in a double boiler, stirring until 2/3 melted; remove from heat & continue stirring until completely melted. Dip one edge of each cookie into the chocolate & set on wax paper to allow the cookie to set.

Makes about 30.

Ready to start.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/ScflhpGlZgI/AAAAAAAAAT4/uPjyV85O__M/s400/IMG_3548.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316470251266074114" />

Mix all your ingredients as directed.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/ScflQSnMomI/AAAAAAAAATw/_JeGOfDKzkA/s400/IMG_3558.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316469953171071586" />

Scooping out the mixture.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Scfk_Aj3f4I/AAAAAAAAATo/di2ZZN8VPmM/s400/IMG_3565.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316469656267489154" />

I used an icecream scoop to scoop out the mixed ingredients onto the baking sheet.
Baking sheet should be lightly greased. * All-purpose flour, for dusting
* 1/2 recipe Pate Brisee (recipe for pate brisee is featured below)
* 1 large whole egg, lightly beaten, plus 4 large egg yolks
* 6 to 8 medium-ripe bananas
* 3 cups whole milk
* 2/3 cup granulated sugar
* 5 tablespoons cornstarch
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out dough to a 12-inch round, a bit less than 1/4 inch thick. Fit dough into a 9-inch pie plate. Using kitchen shears or a sharp knife, trim crust so there's a 1/2-inch overhang all around. Fold under overhang so it extends slightly beyond edge of pie plate. Crimp edge as desired. Prick dough all over with a fork. Brush rim of dough with beaten egg. Chill pie shell until firm, about 30 minutes.
2. Line chilled pie shell with a round of parchment paper, leaving a 1-inch overhang. Fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake until edges of crust just turn golden, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove pie weights and parchment. Return crust to oven, and continue baking until golden all over, 20 to 25 minutes more. Place pie shell on a wire rack to cool completely.
3. Prepare an ice bath; set aside. In a bowl, lightly whisk egg yolks; set aside. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Bring to a simmer (do not boil), and cook, whisking constantly, 3 to 4 minutes.
4. Whisk a quarter of hot-milk mixture into egg yolks; whisk in remaining milk mixture. Strain into a clean saucepan, and cook over medium-high heat, whisking constantly, until custard is thick and bubbles appear in center, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl, and cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto surface to prevent a skin from forming. Set in ice bath until completely chilled, 30 to 35 minutes. (Filling can be kept in refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap, up to 1 day.)
5. Cut 3 or 4 bananas into 1/4-inch slices, slightly on the bias. Beginning at the edge of the piecrust, arrange the slices in slightly overlapping rows. Cover with custard, using an offset spatula to smooth it into an even layer. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, combine cream and confectioners' sugar; beat until soft peaks form. Using a small offset spatula, spread the whipped cream on top of the custard. Refrigerate pie, loosely covered with plastic wrap, for at least 1 hour or up to 2 days.
6. Just before serving, cut 3 or 4 bananas into 1/4-inch slices, slightly on the bias. Beginning at the edge of the piecrust, arrange the slices in slightly overlapping rows on top of the whipped cream.

Pate Brisee.

Ingredients

Makes enough for 1 double-crust or 2 single-crust 9-inch pies

* 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, cold, cut into small pieces
* 1/4 cup ice water, plus more if needed

Directions

1. In the bowl of a food processor, combine flour and salt; pulse to combine. Add butter, and pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some larger pieces remaining, about 10 seconds. (To mix by hand, combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then cut in butter with a pastry blender.)
2. With the machine running, add ice water through the feed tube in a slow, steady stream, just until dough holds together without being wet or sticky. Do not process more than 30 seconds. Test by squeezing a small amount of the dough together; if it is still too crumbly, add a bit more water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
3. Turn out dough onto a clean work surface. Divide in half, and place each half on a piece of plastic wrap. Shape into flattened disks. Wrap in plastic, and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight. The dough can be frozen up to 1 month; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using.

So try this recipe out.
This looked so yummy when Martha was doing it.
Absolutely mouth watering.
Take a picture of it when you're done and post it on your facebook wall so we can all look and see how each other did.
Can everyone who is participating leave me a comment so I know who's joining in or not.
love
T
x0x

I'm going Bananas for Bananas.

This is a little teaser as to the first recipe we're going to try to do.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uWgxVWqM21I/Sbkp4doJrsI/AAAAAAAAAPA/UqAHpp2fiPk/s400/IMG_3104.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312323285462658754" />
I'm thinking that we'll do the recipe thing once a month..that's probably all that everyone can handle right now.
